Installing a combi boiler is quicker and easier than fitting a system boiler because you don’t need to fit a water cylinder. Your qualified plumber or electrician should usually be able to find the most suitable spot for the unit, connect all the wires that need hooking up and tidy away any loose ends in less than a couple of days. This means you’ll be paying less in labour costs, but just how much will installing your new combi boiler actually cost?

If you are replacing an older central heating system…
Because old pipe work might need relocating or replacing, installing a brand new combi boiler in your home can involve a little more groundwork, which can take longer and therefore increase your labour costs. We contacted a number of plumbing and heating companies to see just how much replacing your outdated central heating model will cost, and they provided the following figures:
- Corgi – £850 to £1,200
- Glow-Worm – £900 to £1,500
- Worcester Bosch – between £1,300 and £2,100 (they usually provide a fixed figure on arrival)
- British Gas – £2,300 to £2,600
If you are replacing an old combi boiler…
If you already have a combi boiler but it just needs updating with a new, more efficient model, then the work involved should be minimal – keeping your costs down. The same companies also provided quotes for this installation procedure, and the figures are listed below:
- Corgi – £600 to £700
- Glow-Worm – £700 to £790
- Worcester Bosch – £600 to £800
- British Gas – £750 to £1,000
Of course, it is important to note that final figures will always depend on the size of your home, especially the number of bathrooms you have.
(Note: The costs shown above are for combi boiler installation only and do not include the actual cost of the boiler)
